How have the British and Mongol Empires influenced the world's trade and economy today?

Executive summary

The research paper examines the impacts of the Mongol and the British empires on contemporary trade and economic processes. While the focus of the research paper is on the tangible contribution made by the British Empire through the creation of a railway network, colonial trading connections, and the Sterling system, there is a need to look at the contributions of the Mongol Empire through concepts such as the Silk Road, Yam network, and the development of the passport concept and risk distribution. Although the British Empire created the infrastructure which helps trade and the modern world economy to function, it was the Mongol Empire which provided the foundations of globalisation through the development of secure trading routes in Eurasia.
